Research title Biomarker records of environmental change from Lake GuanShan in the monsoon marginal zone in northwest China. Summary of research I became a China Scholarship Council-funded visiting PhD student in the Department of Geographical and Earth Sciences at the University of Glasgow on November 2009. I have two years experience as a PhD student in Lanzhou University in China before I came here. During this period, I will receive training in organic geochemistry methods in Glasgow Molecular Organic Geochemistry Laboratory (G-MOL). Together with my supervisors I'm trying to use biomarkers from lake sediments as a tool to reconstruct past climate changes. So far, I have already measured several proxies: Magnetic Susceptibility, Grain Size, Element Component, Macrofossil, Stable Carbon Isotope Composition etc.
I spent the academic year 2004-2007 as a MSc studying Botany and Ecology in Shihezi University in China and participated in Research Program “The reproductive process and sand Mechanism of Stipagrostis in Xinjiang, China”.
